Meet Louise Hannington

We love to meet the people behind the well-known brands in the local area, so we have asked our members a few questions so you can get to know them better too.

Meet Louise Hannington, owner of Lou's Threads Interiors. Louise provides inspirational ideas to create wonderful living spaces.

How did you get into what you do?

I started my business in June 2011 after travelling around the world. I knew I loved sewing and wanted to work for myself, so set up doing clothing alterations and making clothes for my clients. My mum, Sally Anne, taught me how to make curtains and my business developed from there. I have since completed a diploma in Professional Curtain Making and now solely concentrate on Interiors, making curtains, roman blinds and soft furnishing for the home.

What are you responsible for in the business?

Everything! I am the owner, head of design, head of making, in charge of ordering all the materials and fabric, head of accounts, social media correspondent, secretary and chef tea maker - the most important!!

What do you like most about what you do? Creating beautiful soft furnishings for clients houses and making them into homes. Every project is different and it is great getting to know clients and create something bespoke for them.

What sort of challenges do you face in your position in the business?

The biggest challenge in my business is finding new clients. I have been going 8 years now and I get a lot of recommendations which is great, but it is always something I have to keep an eye on. If the phone isn't ringing I don't get paid.

What do you specifically like about Wetherby?

Wetherby is such a great little town, there is so much going on. People like to support local businesses which are good for the local community.

Are you involved in any community events/clubs/organisations and if so why did you get involved?

I help to run the local agricultural show, Tockwith Show. Mum and I run the showjumping and dressage competition and help set it up every year. We have been involved 12 years now and its great to be part of something to give back to the local area.

Where can we find you? 1 Sycamore Barn, Angram, YO23 3PA 01904 737573
