Have an Echo device and fancy a laugh?

Let's face it we could all do with a giggle at the moment! So if you are looking for some Lockdown entertainment or want to wait until Christmas, here's some great fun things to do with the whole family straight from your Alexa.

Ask Alexa “tell me a joke,” and she’ll often tell a pun or silly joke like, “Where do skeletons go for a fun night out... anywhere so long as it's a hip joint” or “What does a house wear.... address” But, just like Dad her jokes often warrant a groan or two and some are definitely funnier than others.

Your Echo device goes way beyond scheduling your diary and reminding you to buy groceries, so we've scouted the internet and made a list of some of the silly things you can do which can keep you entertained for hours!

True of False

This one does exactly what it says on the tin but a great game to play with the family. Answer true or false and see how much you really know! 'Alexa, play true or flase' you will be asked how many people are playing from the outset. We like this one as she also gives you the reason why you are right or wrong!

The Magic Door

An adventure game where you choose from 3 scenarios - the mountains, sea or a dark forest. to find a magic door. Once you make a selection, you'll start your journey. Alexa will walk you through the path, giving you details about what's ahead, and will ask if you would like to get out of there or keep going. Keep going to continue the story to the end. Collect hidden items, solve riddles and help magical creatures. To start playing say 'Alexa, play The Magic Door'

Fake News

This is similar to the true or false game - you're given ridiculous headlines and you choose whether it's actual news or fake news. You can play this game alone or with up to 20 friends. Just ask 'Alexa open Fake News'.

Word Play

You’re looking for a five-letter word. Alexa will supply the first letter or two, but the rest is up to you. It’s a bit like playing Wheel of Fortune without the light-up letters. Going the “r-s-t-l-n-e” route isn’t a bad idea, because you’ll know when you got a letter in the right spot, when you’ve got the correct letter but it’s in the wrong position, or when a letter isn’t in the word at all. Let’s say your word starts with “bl.” You could guess “bland,” and Alexa would tell you that “b,” “l,” and “a” were in the right spots, “n” isn’t in the word, and “d” is in the wrong spot. Opting for “blade” next would probably be a good idea.

Guess My Name

Though you can play this skill alone, it’s much more fun playing with a group of people. You’ll hear a series of clues in your chosen category. Your job is to guess what you think Alexa is describing before anyone else. For example, if you knew the answer you would yell, “Alexa, you’re Marilyn Monroe!” Categories include countries, animals, historical figures, famous actors, animated characters, and random.
