A new way to enjoy The Castle Inn, Spofforth

Although the UK Government has yet to confirm when and how we can reopen, we are becoming increasingly excited about seeing you again.

The last few months have been a worrying time for all families and businesses. But since the temporary closure of The Castle Inn on Saturday 21st March, we have focused on preparing the pub we love for reopening.

We have worked hard to secure the future of our business and have looked carefully at what ‘reopening’ might initially mean. As a result of this work, we have reached several conclusions:

  1. We will need to operate in a way that minimises risk and prevents the spread of Covid-19. But it will not be possible to offer a completely risk-free pub.

  2. We are likely to offer a reduced but still high quality menu. And depending on Government guidelines, service may initially focus on outside eating and drinking.

  3. Reopening hours will reflect customer demand and outside service may be restricted by the weather.

  4. All customers, including those wanting to join us for a quick drink, will need to book a table and will be given clear time slots. This will enable us to manage social distancing and regular hygiene tasks.

We are extremely pleased to confirm that a new leadership team will oversee the day to day running of the pub during these challenging times.

L-R Tom Marshall and Liam Holuj

Tom Marshall, has joined us direct from our sister company Catton Hospitality.

Tom has significant pub, restaurant and hotel experience having most recently been General Manager at The Frogmill, Cheltenham.

Tom will lead our Front of House team and work closely with our new Kitchen Manager Liam Holuj.

Liam played a key role in launching The Square & Compass, North Rigton in 2012.

He is once again in charge of one of our kitchens and we are thrilled to have him back.

We are greatly looking forward to handing you over to Tom, Liam and the team. They will be ready with a very warm welcome.
