A person is being treated for potentially serious injuries after getting caught in a three-vehicle smash on the A1 this morning (Weds).
The motorway was closed earlier after the Peugeot and two vans collided on the motorway near to junction 45 at Wetherby.
Traffic reports claimed that motorists were experiencing delays of up to an hour and 15 minutes as emergency services responded following the collision shortly before 7am.
The motorway was later re-opened although one lane remained closed on both sides.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “We were called at 6:49am to an RTC involving three vehicles at junction 45 of the A1. A blue Peugeot 206, black Vauxhall van, and grey Renault van were all involved. One person has possible serious injuries.
“Lanes three both north and southbound closed, but other lanes in both directions now reopened.”
It follows a morning of severe delays on West Yorkshire's motorways, after police were called to the M62 near Hartshead Services earlier this morning.
A man had fallen from a bridge near to the motorway services and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
