West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) is telling people to make sure they go to organised bonfire night events rather than stage their own.
The service says this coming weekend is their busiest of the year, with private bonfire parties causing problems by "secondary fires" springing up.
These can include anything from grass fires to wheelie bin and rubbish fires, last year the service says it attended 68 of them.
WYFRS did stress though that it wants "families to enjoy the bonfire season," but stressed the best way to do it is to attend an organised event.
"Time spent at these fires can result in fire engines not being available to attend other emergencies."
