Bench is in Business

A new bench, located at the Cluster of Nuts car park has been inaugurated by the Mayor of Wetherby.

Representatives from Welcome to Wetherby, local businesses and the Old Men’s Parliament attended the ceremony on Wednesday 12th October 2016. Present were, from left to right, Katy Huscroft and Zoe Stephens from Hunters Estate Agency, Lucy Gilman from Ware & Kay Solicitors Ltd, Elaine Mills from Nicolla Florist, Dean Buckle from Wetherby Bike Shack, Mrs Sue Trower, Councillor Norma Harrington – Mayor of Wetherby, Councillor Cindy Bentley – Chair of Welcome to Wetherby, Mr John Trower from the Old Men’s Parliament.

The bench was purchased and installed by Welcome to Wetherby using funds remaining from the generous donations by businesses who contributed to the Town’s celebrations of the Tour de Yorkshire earlier this year.

Chair of Welcome to Wetherby, Town Councillor Cindy Bentley, commented that “it seemed right to make sure that there was a lasting tribute to the Tour de Yorkshire celebrations and to the contribution that Wetherby businesses made to what was a memorable and successful occasion for the Town.”

The bench is located at the coach drop off point near the junction of Horsefair, Hallfield Lane and Walton Road and provides a convenient resting point for visitors, cyclists, shoppers, walkers, workers and residents as they make their way through town.
