'Rib Tickling' Laughter to end a busy week
After a week of meetings and networking events, what better way to end than a visit to The Engine Shed for a laughter wind down.
It was a full house, hungry for a cracking line up of comedians and we were definitely not disappointed by the 'Rib Ticklers'.
Opening the show and warming up the crowd is never an easy job but Nick Banks took Wetherby into a whooping roar as the build up reached a crescendo ready for the first act.
L-R Nick Banks, Fran Gerrity, Carl Gillespie
Fran Garrity's rendition of his divorce settlement remote control, whilst his wife got the TV was nothing short of genius, with 'Arrgghhh' Carl Gillespie (aka Alan Rickman) up next, making his presence felt from the moment he growled onto the stage.
L-R Matt Fong, Ben Crompton
Matt Fong's dad will be forever remembered in Wetherby as the Chinese proverb telling guru with a special lesson to learn - he died! (not Matt's dad but the... oh you had to be there!)
And then our final headline act of the show, Ben Crompton.
Most will remember Ben as an actor from the series 'Game of Thrones' but this formidable actor has a rather wicked comical side and by god he is funny. Wetherby has been spoilt!
Sitting on the front row you know that at some stage you will be selected for a joke of two. Having the silver fox himself (Philip Schofield look-alike?) with us obviously increased our chances! Poor Rob! Followed by my Hartlepool connections and hubby's bald head.
More than half of the acts coming from my neck of the woods was only a minor factor that I loved the show but it proves that I was right - 'proper good stuff' comes from up North!
The Engine Shed could have been purpose built to be a comedy club. Great entertainment, as always. If you missed this show, you missed out!
Well done Rib Ticklers you certainly lived up to your name. One thing we can be sure of is that we will see you in November...
